You've seen all the photographs of buffed bodies and let's face they look great but they are a very small percentage of people out there who want to look and feel better...and it's not just a case of losing weight, the next part of a person's transformation is the shaping and moulding fo the body while at the same returning fitness, health and stamina. So let's look at some individual cases...
This story is about a man, a single Father who had been a heavy smoker most of his life. In fact, he was smoking 100 cigarettes a day and had no desire to cease, until...he found out his school aged daughter was smoking, and he knew he didn't have a leg to stand on. Both his parents had smoked and when he started way, way back they used to advertise "Seven out of Ten Doctors recommend Camel". So confronting his daughter, he knew he had to negotiate her quitting the habit, so he said..."If You give Up...I'll give Up" and his daughter thought, there is no way he can do this, whereas if it meant he could get his daughter to quit, it would be worthwhile.
To do this he visited his Doctor who prescribed skin patches to wean him off the cancer sticks and he stopped....completely, went cold turkey...so you can just imagine what he went through 100 cigarettes a day to 0 cigarettes. To cut this story short and concentrate on weight loss and fitness, you would need to imagine, the incredible withdrawal symptoms after he had gone without cigarettes and the cravings were like that of an addicted druggie, all he could replace the cigarettes with were...food, and lots of it. Quickly he packed on the weight, and his answer to this was simple...buy bigger clothes.
In the meantime, as he grew larger, he met a lady much younger than himself, and fell madly in love. At that point he realized that he, being much older than her and now incredibly fat if not obese from all the comfort needed to do something drastic to get back to being a normal-sized human being. So he started to walk, seven days a week until he was power walking up to ten miles (16 kilometres) each morning. In addition, he worked with a personal trainer. After just four months he had reduced his weight from 116 kilos (256llbs) to 96 kilos (211lbs)...but this was still difficult to maintain - there was still something missing in his weight loss regime. He went to a Doctor and told him how much exercise he was doing and yet he was still struggling with weight. The Doctor said whilst the exercise is great, certainly for fitness but what about his diet? He asked for example, What did you have for breakfast this morning? The Man answered - a very healthy breakfast - cereal, with bananas...toast and jam...a couple of coffees...and some mornings bacon and eggs. The Doctor burst out laughing and asked how many bananas did you have this morning. The man answered just three. JUST THREE BANANAS!!! Every day? Now he agreed:- Fattening or Weight Loss Friendly? Bananas are healthy and nutritious, there is no doubt about that. They are also high in fiber, but low in calories. ... If you are trying to lose weight, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with eating bananas as a part of a balanced, real food based diet. However 21 x bananas a day, just with breakfast is too much. The Doctor after hearing the rest of his eating habits, then explained that it wasn't so much what you eat but the amount you eat. The man thought about this for a couple of months and continued his exercise regime, but it almost became a losing battle...the more he exercised, the more fuel he needed.
